The Cistercian monks of the Chiaravalle Abbey in Milan had sensed the magic of this place as early as 1142, when they chose it to build their new “home”.
That intimate and uncontaminated environment was, after all, a perfect treasure chest for cultivating the Ora Et Labora.
In a few years the Abbey of Fiastra became one of the most important in Italy.
And it began to attract attention.
Families lying on immense green meadows, curious eyes inside a medieval cloister, modern pilgrims on horseback.

After paying the ticket, you will immediately have access to the cloister of the Abbey of Fiastra, where in the center there is a well ( under which there was a cistern), from which the Cistercian monks drew water.
The first stage of the itinerary is the refectory of the lay brothers, lay religious who dealt with manual labor.
Cultivation of the fields, breeding of cattle and sheep, reclamation of the marshes rather than of the liturgy.
From the refectory of the lay brothers you will come out into a large English-style garden, with Palazzo Giustiniani Bandini behind it.
The residence of the noble family of Camerino who came into possession of the Abbey at the end of the XVIII century, after the suppression of the Society of Jesus ( Jesuits ).
The Chapter room, where the reading of the Rule was held.
The Cellars, where the Wine Museum is set up, exhibiting tools used in the past for the processing of grapes.
Refectory of the converis where you can admire some splendid capitals recovered by Urbs Salvia.
