Carloforte wheelchair accessible tours, was founded in 1738 by a colony of Ligurian fishermen who settled in Tabarca ( Tunisia ) in the XVI century to practice coral fishing.
Carloforte, is the only village on the Island of San Pietro, an island in the small archipelago of Sulcis off the coast of southwestern Sardinia.
Is today one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The village, with its beautiful tree-lined promenade, its Carruggetti ( alleys ) with pastel-colored houses.
The simple but tasty cuisine and the ancient Genoese dialect, offers tourists a glimpse of the old Liguria, in the heart of the Mediterranean.

Touring Carloforte
The beauty of Carloforte is its particular atmosphere given by the mix of Ligurian, Arab and Sardinian elements and the magnificent beaches around the village.
There are no famous cultural attractions, but it is worth taking a look at the small Civic Museum housed within an XVIII century fort, one of the first defensive buildings erected on the island.
Two noteworthy churches are the Church of the Novelli Innocenti, built before the colonization of the island in memory of the victims of a shipwreck in 1212.
The Church of the Madonna dello Schiavo also known as the Chiesetta del Previn ( little priest ) in homage to the priest, who remained a prisoner in Tunisia together with other Carlofortini.
The most famous attraction of the island, however, is a natural wonder.
The Columns of Carloforte, two stacks of dark rock that emerge from the waters near La Bobba.
Until 2013 they were the same height but the tide swept the tip of one of the two, of which today only the base remains.
The best way to admire them is a boat trip around the island.
While outside the center you can see the salt pans of Carloforte where it is also possible to admire the magnificent specimens of pink flamingos.
