Aci Trezza Wheelchair Accessible Tours
A few kilometers from Catania, in the municipality of Aci Castello, stands the mythological village of Aci Trezza.
The seaside village of Aci Trezza was founded in the 1600s, but in reality archaeological finds testify that this land was inhabited by the ancient Greeks.
The small village overlooks the Ionian Sea and in front of it the Islands of the Cyclops.

We don’t just tell you, who are particularly attached to this village, but the thousands of enthusiastic tourists who visit it fill them with emotion every day.
Homer narrates in the ninth book of the Odyssey of the birth of the Islands.
It was the anger of Polyphemus who, when he realized that he had been duped by Ulysses, hurled him against the great rocky peaks to avoid his escape into the sea, hence the birth of the Faraglioni.
But moving from myth to science, the birth of the Faraglioni is due to an intense activity of Mount Etna, about half a million years ago.
Aci Trezza has the only promenade that can make you walk not only on space, but also over time.
It is a village where the years seem not to have passed, where you can still find the colorful boats of the fishermen ready to take off towards the horizon.

The absolute protagonist of Aci Trezza is the sea, the life of the entire town revolves around it.
The stacks with the Protected Marine Area, the Norman Castle of Aci Castello, the Casa del Nespolo Museum are the three unmissable destinations to visit during your holiday in Aci Trezza.
The Islands of the Cyclops marine protected area was established in 1989 and modified in 2004, it includes the Lachea Island, the Faraglioni and the stretch of sea between Punta Aguzza and Capo Mulini 623 hectares of protected sea.
Seabed is very rich also thanks to their geological nature, numerous ravines, canyons, pinnacles, which offer shelter to many species.
The Norman Castle of Aci Castello, is in a privileged position on top of a lava ridge overlooking the square of Via del Porto.

Inside an old house in the historic center of Aci Trezza stands the Casa del Nespolo Museum.
It is a typical Sicilian house of the XIX century, with a lava stone arch at the entrance, a courtyard and a vegetation garden.
Inside you will find two rooms: the room of “La Terra Trema” where photographs of Luchino Visconti‘s masterpiece are kept.
The “Sala dei Malavoglia” which houses ancient work tools of XIX century fishermen, the photos taken by Giovanni Verga and the letters written by the latter to his brother Pietro.
